Pipestone Golf Club
About
Pipestone Golf Course is an Arthur Hills design that has been acclaimed as the best public course in the Dayton area. The name of the course comes from blue clay soil that is buried deep in the ground. The native Indians of the area would use it for making pottery and they would call it pipestone. Nestled amongst rolling hills, the golf course offers plenty of elevation changes. The undulating greens and fairways are kept in immaculate condition but they rarely offer a flat lie. The front nine is particularly challenging with several holes that are framed with tress and crisscross over the same creek. Pipestone Golf Course's second hole is one of the toughest with a water hazards and a fairway that is severely sloped right to left.

Great course!!!!!!!
This course has all the challenges(water, trees, sand, long par 4s, houses, narrow fairways, and fast greens), a golfer should endure.
Pipestone top notch
Simply one of the best public courses in ohio. Course is in immaculate condition . A fair challenge for any skill set. Beautiful greens, tee times were well spaced out, staff was great. Always a value, even if you're paying full green fees, there are always tee times online though.
Hills' Best?
I have played many Arthur Hills courses and this may be my favorite. Very interesting use of hazards, trees and of course those elephants buried under the greens. I liked #2 best. Severely sloped fairway put balls into the left water hazard even when the grass was not trimmed short and had plenty of moisture. Bombers can reach in two but will still have to deal with the green.
The good score is there, but you are advised to play smarter rather than longer.
Great Value...Great Course
I have played at this course just a couple of time but for the rate it is really a great value. Nice greens, a little quick but maintained well. All bunkers ere in good shape as well. Challenging course yet very fun.
Play was a little slow when I played but only because I was behind a golf league. I would recommend this course to anyone!!
Great course
I had the early tee time and played in less 4 hrs and could have played faster. Course was in excellent condition. Greens were quick and true. Ii played on the Golf Now rate which was a bargin. The course is worth the every day rate!
Fun course
This course has a lot a character. It was in good shape when we played.
Great layout....unfriendly staff
Short and sweet....awesome golf course...but the staff there would have to try to be any more unfriendly. The man behind the counter in the pro shop acted as though he was doing me a favor taking my money...did not greet me...did not thank me....the starter sent me out the back....although the front was wide open....had to skip 3 holes....3 groups deep on every tee. They seemed to dislike the fact that I received a discounted rate and wanted to punish me everyway they could. Nice course....horrible customer service.
SLOW pace of play
Great golf course, it just always takes forever to play. There's always a log jam on holes #2, #6 and #18 and sometime #11 and #12....it's a GREAT design but the holes for many players takes forever so it is almost always a 5 hour round. We were unable to finish out 18 as we went off late (typically we finish 18 in 3-3.5 hours). I LOVE Pipestone but it is just a slow place and not good for a late weekday round if you want to finish.
Overall great experience !)
Greens were in great shape. Rough is thick but well maintained. Ladies' tees seemed like they could be moved back a good bit on a number of holes (even for high handicapper like me). Scored my best round ever here - first time playing the course. Was a great experience and staff was incredibly friendly and informative.
Good value for the money, and nice too.
Played here with two friends and had a good time. We have played around the world so are fairly picky, but liked the layout and it presented some challenges and was not boring. Many hills with 3 blind shots, but fair. Nice pace of play. Would play it again if in the area.
Great Shape for Early Season
Enjoyed my first round of the year playing here. The weather was spectacular and the course was in great shape for this early in the season. Greens were fast but fair, except for a couple of holes. Overall a great round.
Excellent Value!
Staff was fabulous! Course was in nice shape. Greens were fast and true. If you play on Friday, plan on staying for lunch or dinner. Every Friday they have a fabulous deal in the grill. I will definitely be back.
Great course. Pretty crowded
Course was great. Played 9 holes after work and took close to 3 hrs due to number of players on the course and cart died halfway through but great and challenging course.
Pipestone
Great Couse and some really challenging holes. Always in good condition
Love this course
I'm a social golfer who shoots in the 90s. I enjoy this course because it is well designed and fun to play. There is not a lot of water but seemed like there was a small creek which came into play on just about every hole. The course is well taken care of. Sand traps were a little hard but I played in early April. Greens seemed consistant. I played winter/spring rates so was able to play for less than $30 which is what I look for in price range. I enjoy this course and will play it a couple times a year if I can.
Great for the price
The guys were looking for somewhere nice to get a round of golf in. I looked on GOLF NOW and booked it. The course was cart path only, that was the only bad thing. A great course to play and for that price it was excellent.
irst time out after winter break-good deal on Golf now 15$ / 18 holes w/ cart- but not worth the regualr price
course wasn't in the best of shape after the hard winter this year- water all over, ground mushy and muddy- we played on a Monday(first 60* day we had since before winter) it was crowded and pace of play was like a snail- course is small and tight, and if any group has problems you'll be backed up forever and ever- we waited on the tee box for 10-12 minutes on almost every hole- this course isn't easy by all means, and the greens are crazy fast- paying only $15 for 18 holes and cart wasn't bad- but I'd never pay full price to play here- they make it look like a high end place, when its really not- it fun, it'll take you 4 1/2 to finish 18 holes and its not too far from me- will I be back? hmm only if golfnow has another deal on it- if not NO THANK YOU
great, especially for this time of year
Great, especially for this time of year. And good value with the winter rates
This course will test any players ability.
Loved this course , I have wanted to play it for a long time. Since I know the layout will most likely play differently but this course was pristine and the greens were like putting on glass.I am looking forward to the next round soon.
Well maintenance course with a lot of hills!
Good experiences! The hole 2 is very challenge since narrow fairway next to water.
