The Madden Golf Course is a municipal course that is suitable for all skill levels. The course was built on hilly terrain causing some elevation changes and uneven lies. The fairways are lined with trees and the average-sized greens are medium to fast in speed. Sand bunkers are present on the course and there are also water hazards that come into play on eight holes. The course starts with a challenging par-5, which requires an approach shot over a creek to a green that is well protected by a sand bunker in front. The Madden Golf Course facility also boasts a putting green and teaching pro.

great choice
The course was in very good shape. The only negative was all the ball marks on the greens, if players would repair their ball marks the greens would be perfect. Everything else was very good, greens were fast but true. I will play Madden again.

Use most of your clubs
Not a long place but lots of hills, some twists and greens that you need to take your time on. This was out second time there and we did not enjoy our 1st trip. It's been 2 years since we played and I would go back in a second. It was in very good shape (esp for Sunday) and this time there were no pit bulls wandering the course. Seemed well watered and taken care of. We really enjoyed ourselves.
hidden gem
Beautiful course with many elevated tees. While this is a mature course with great trees, it is relatively forgiving of those with hooks and slices. Rough is nicely cut and there are no real water hazards.
Friendly staff and very nice players. Play is at a good pace but folks are understanding of those who might struggle. Slower players are very aware of those behind them and invitations for faster groups to play through are common.
This course is located in a predominantly African American section of the city however the course is welcoming to everyone and it is refreshing to see a diversity of groups at this great course.

Par 5's an elevated greens a plenty
Pretty nice course if you catch a bargain. Can be clogs at times but never to bad. Great shape and fairly good in the deep rough. If you like raised greens they're a plenty at Madden. Including some 20 footers. Mammoth par 5".
Its is near the Dayton wastewater plant but never seems an issue, for me anyway. Low key facility. Relaxing
The best course in the city
This the best course in Dayton (Public course). The greens are always in great shape. The course challenges you to put the ball in the right spot.
Nice cheap course
If your looking for a nice course that won't set you back much this is the one.
Madden
The greens slope is extremely difficult for someone like me that shoots an 85 average. The greens do not match up with the overall course difficulty. I tried to go in the building to buy something to drink and they didn't have anything to drink for sale but yet the signs on the course say u can't bring anything? Staff was very friendly though. I won't attend madden again mostly because of the no food or beverage and just the green slopes were way to difficult overall for me. Fairway was ok. About average maybe a little higher grass than average for fairway play.
course good for high handicapers
play often and like the challenge & fairness. Not overly crowed, can play inside four hours

Decent muni golf
While it isn't in the best part of town, Madden is interesting track. It's just hilly enough to provide some variety to the holes. Conditions were pretty decent. It's a bit more challenging that some of other municipal courses in the area.
Love the elevated Tee boxes.
Wide fairways, well maintained course. I like the layout of the course in general, forgiving course off the tee box. Great old school feel.
A Classic
I have over 50 years of history with this course. I caddied for my dad, and learned the game on this course. I now live in Cincinnati
So I only play it once or twice a year.
It is refreshingly unchanged,other than the clubhouse. Still a beautiful and challenging track.
This course has potential.
No ranger, 15-20 minutes waiting to tee off between holes, Did not inform us at check in that a best ball scramble was in progress and to put a finishing touch on this stellar review, the pro made a comment about GolfNow overbooking his course and that is why it was so backed up at the tees. Really ....... A golf course complaining about being busy and making money, instead of making sure its guests want come back...no class.
Several hidded greens. Difficult to play the first time.
Great course. Beautiful hillside views. Layout clearly marked.
Muni in great condition but was just average time.
Very nice looking course in an interesting location. Could have played faster if not for slow groups and patrons playing random holes that were open. Passed the same group of guys about three times. At least they let me play through. Would consider playing again if asked.
