Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Great course in the country
Sugar Isle is a great little course in the middle of the country. The layout is great and course is in decent condition for this early in the season.
Worth the $12 deal.
It’s a nice little course for beginners. It’s a very easy layout with very few places to get into trouble. Check your cart’s brakes before driving off because they don’t take care of them.
One big pro: they allow you to byob.
Not a 4 star course
One problem with ratings is that those who rate often don't play on more expensive and higher quality courses, especially true when the course in question, like this one, is in a remote area.
Great course
Great course. Great staff. I lost several balls on their classic island hole :)
Fall Golf
This course was undergoing fall conditioning. Lots of aerated fairways creating bare spots. Greens were in pretty good shape and just about healed from aeration. It was definitely what I expected.
Could Only Play 9
Could only play 9 due to slow pace of play by golfers ahead of us. No ranger. Told to start on back 9. I think they really over book certain tee times. Took almost 3 hours to play nine. My group plays 18 in less time. We will not be back.
Over booked doomed the round
Played the front nine on a hot Sunday afternoon in almost 2:30 mins Waited on every shot. Our group decided to quit after 14 holes so the value had with their discounted rate was nullified. Traveled 40 mins from south of Dayton to play. We will not go back. Too many options closer to home (yes they are more expensive) but I’ll pay for not being frustrated on my round.
Fun Round
Great value for the price paid. Course was in very good condition and the pace of play was great as we didn’t have to wait on any holes.
Nice!!!
this is mid July and we are in near drought conditions in the general area but this course is still in very good condition. the greens are holding and the fairways very green. other than a little crabgrass out of control on some of the T boxes you couldn't ask for much more. Kudos to the staff.
I don’t know if it was GolfNow or the course, but the tee time I bought had a 14 team golf outing start at the same time. We were stuck behind them the entire day. A 6 hour round and didn’t even get to finish the final hole because it was ‘50/50’ closest to the pin and the group ahead of us took about 30 shots. A piece. What a joke.
Great Value
The course was in the best shape that it has ever been over the years that I have played there. Fairways were great. Sand in the bunkers and the greens were quick.
Slow!!!
Course was good, but one group held up everyone. On two holes, rangers watched them and said nothing. When lodging complaint afterward, i was told pace of play was 4 and 1/2 hours and no apology issued. It was actually over 4 and 1/2 hours which is way too long for this course. I was very surprised by that reaction and will not be back soon.
They also charge $14 for older gas carts, which is way too much!
Nice Track
Pace was very slow. Way to hot to be standing around every shot. 5 hours to get around. Course was not that tough.
Last visit to the course
The course was not in very good condition. The cart paths are all crumbling. If you're not careful you can twist your ankle on the cart path. There were big patches of sand that must have fallen out of the vehicle that they feel the sand traps with. Fairways were like cow pasture. This is the worst I've ever seen this course. For the money I paid to play here I would have expected a much nicer course. The greens were in good condition but we're very very slow. It looks like they're trying to work on the course because there must have been 20 course workers Mowing and seeding and whatever else they do I might wait a while before I go back to
